Varzaneh and Its Special Features
Varzaneh, the capital city of Bon Rud district in Isfahan province, is located in 105 km distance from Isfahan city on its southeast and 240 km from Yazd. The city with a population of 17000, is sited near the salt marsh of Gavkhouni, the terminal basin of Zayandeh Rud. The city is famous for both the traditional costumes women wear and historical and natural sites you can find inside or near the city. While women mostly wear black chadors in Iran, women in Varzaneh wear completely white chadors and that’s why it is called the city of white-wearing angels. Watching the women walking slowly in white, reminds you of the purity and simplicity of a calm desert city. They float like white clouds in the sky of a brown and yellow land, they move like swans in a lake of soil and brick and sand.
Attractions of Varzaneh
There are many historical and natural attractions inside or near the city you can visit and enjoy including The Jame Mosque of Varzaneh, Yusefi traditional house and ethnology museum, Camel-mill Complex, The Old Bridge, Dovecote (a house of 7,000 pigeons), Water reservoirs and wind-towers (wind-catchers), Ox-well complex, Caravansary, Gavkhooni Wetland and Black Mountain, Salt Lake of Gavkhooni, Varzane Desert, etc. There are some traditional guesthouses and restaurants in Varzaneh which have the style of old houses of the area and serve the traditional foods made with the local material of the city such as Homemade Bread, Kashk Bademjan, Abgoosht, etc.

Although there are various attractions in this area, the most popular site is Varzaneh desert in 117 km distance from Isfahan city and 10 km from Varzaneh. Weather
Varzaneh Desert has a dry climate. The days are hot and the temperature can reach 40°C in July and drops below zero in January and February after midnight. So, warm clothes are needed in case you intend to stay in Varzaneh at night.
